With hundreds already built, the HebHomes ranges, designed by award-winning Dualchas Architects, offer open-plan living, floor-to-ceiling windows and modern interior design. Inspired by traditional forms, our houses are loved by planners in both rural and urban settings..
Our HomesRather than outdated timber studs we offer the options of our staggered stud wall system (SSWS), ensuring a high performance, thermally unbroken wall assembly. With off-site construction, our super-insulated houses can be built much quicker than you would expect.
SustainabilityWe have over 30 different kit homes, ranging from 1 to 5 plus bedrooms. Our architects are happy to make changes to these designs to suit your specific location. On the Pacific North West we can supply and erect the kit to your site. Our kits can be delivered anywhere in the US for your own contractors to erect.
Why Choose UsOur eco-friendly designs inspired by Scottish and northern European architecture fall into four ranges which can readily be adapted to your specific location and requirements. We also offer bespoke designs.
Our new Airigh collection is inspired by the sheilings (àirighean) that were once common in the Scottish Highlands.
This range of one-storey houses are ideal as starter homes and can be easily amended for wheelchair use.
This sleek range of one-and-a-half storey kit houses have been inspired on the traditional ‘longhouse’ of Scotland and northern Europe.
Our large and luxurious ‘Steading’ range of kit houses has been inspired by the forms and proportions of traditional farm steadings.
It is important as a starting point to obtain advice on your overall budget for your home. If you are intending to use a bridging loan or mortgage, make sure it’s suitable for the project ahead.
Remember that costs can be very site specific and you won't know final costs until your detailed drawings are completed, specification finalised and tenders returned. We advise to use a quantity surveyor to help with budgeting from an early stage.
Project SequenceFind a plot in your favoured location and make sure it is suitable for the intended purpose. When you are ready to proceed, appoint a lawyer to put in a conditional offer on your behalf. Once applicable consents and legalities are dealt with, the land is yours.
To find land the best option is to keep looking on estate agent websites and be ready to move quickly.
Project SequenceYour budget and land will help guide your choice of design. We can offer advice to you and other building professionals involved to narrow this down to the most suitable. We can then help you decide on the house design that best matches your brief with your budget.
At HebHomes, we have a range of standardised house types and plan layouts to suit a wide variety of families, lifestyles and budgets.
Project SequenceAppointing a local architect, surveyor or other construction industry professional is a must when self building a house. They will act as your agent and can offer expert guidance through the whole process, securing permits and ensuring your house complies with local codes.
Project SequenceWe will provide drawings of your chosen design for inclusion in the submission to the planning authorities. These can vary from neighbourhood to neighbourhood and It will be the responsibility of your appointed agent to assist you in obtaining all the other site-specific drawings and information you will require for the application. This includes location plan and site plan as well as parking and drainage arrangements.
Project Sequence
Once it has been established you can build your chosen design, we will issue you with a Supply only or Supply and Erect contract with an estimated kit price. We will proceed with producing detailed construction drawings for inclusion in the submission to your local department. A structural engineer will be required to design foundations and on-site engineering.
It will be the role of your architect/agent to ensure that builing complies with local codes.
Project SequenceThe normal process is for your agent to put your house out to tender to three reputable contractors.. The agent will ensure that you appoint the builder offering the most suitable tender. Your agent should ensure that both the builder and yourself understand the contract you are entering into and its obligations.
Hebhomes will either supply the kit to site to your contractor or supply and erect.
Project SequenceOnce Building Consent is approved and your main contractor is appointed, it is time to start procuring materials required for building your home. This will be your responsibility or that of your contractor to organise. Site access and connections will also need to be finalised at this stage.
It takes around 8-12 weeks for your windows to be delivered and 3 weeks for the kit to be delivered and these will be co-ordinated with your overall build.
Project SequenceYour site will need to be cleared, an access track installed and the suitable substructure, groundworks and foundations built.
This will be organised by your main contractor or, if you are undertaking a self-build, by yourself.
Project SequenceWith detailed drawings, professional guidance and a good builder, you can sit back and enjoy watching your house being built. After the arrival of the Hebhomes kit and its erection by certified installers, electrical and plumbing will begin inside as the outer skin is completed externally. And when the finishes are in place and the kitchen fitted, paintwork will bring the house to life.
You will most likely need to appoint a separate Contract Administrator (CA) to administer the contract while the work is on site and we would recommend you do so.
Project SequenceOnce the house has been inspected and approved by your agent, you can lie back on your carefully chosen sofa and admire your wonderful new home.
Building your own architect-designed dream home will never be easier than with a Hebhome.
Project SequenceHebHomes ethos matched with our desire to build a contemporary home with links to the traditions of island life. We considered many designs but the WH502 has given us a modern family home that also fits with the landscape. We are very happy with our modern classic home."
I used the turn-key service which I can highly recommend. Their trusted contractor was very organised and good to work with and the standard of workmanship high. Five years on the house still looks as good as new." .
Three years since completion, after a problem-free build, the house is still a delight. It’s a very efficient design, easy to maintain and with remarkable storage space, and the insulation does everything it claims to do. No complaints; it’s a real success.
After nearly 5 years we are so delighted with our HebHome that we feel we are living in a luxury 5-star holiday home - permanently! An easy company to work with full of advice and help during the construction. Highly recommend them.
I have to say that I am delighted. The SIP system is excellent, and the design is even better on the ground than it appeared on paper.
Absolutely beautiful house. Everything was excellent. This place definitely deserves it's five-star grading. You have done an excellent job with An Linnean. Beautiful decor, beautiful surroundings. A place for people who like the finer things in life.
We gave the house the name 'Hyggie'. It's a Scandinavian word which encompasses family, friends and cosiness and it is so apt for the feeling we get whenever we enter the house. Once through the door, an atmosphere of calm and warmth and that is quickly followed by an immense appreciation of the seascape view through the panoramic window
Working with HebHomes was a very pleasant experience. Continuous advice and support made the once daunting thought of self-build into simple step by step process of building our dream holiday home. We now own a beautiful longhouse which is admired by all our guests.
What I love about my house is the connection between inside and out. The full-height glazing means that the landscape seems incredibly close, yet I can shut the windows to a storm, draw the blinds and feel warm and secure.
We have had many compliments on the house and on your design and are really happy in our home.
