At Hebhomes we design under the principle of “fabric first”, meaning our highly insulated building envelopes minimise the amount of energy required to heat the house. This allows them to achieve extremely high energy performance ratings. And we do this with the most sustainable of materials, timber. We do this with the most sustainable of materials.
Our factory-built panel system utilizes advanced framing techniques and a staggered stud layout to reduce lumber usage and minimise thermal-bridging, which is common in standard wood framed walls. The generous wall thickness not only creates a beautiful visual impact at window and door openings, but also accommodates a very thick layer of near continuous insulation, ensuring a quiet and comfortable living environment.
Our high-quality windows and doors can provide a net gain to the energy performance of your home. Customers can choose from two different window and door packages. All our windows area constructed of wood and achieve a very low U-value: 0.22 with our standard package, and as low as 0.17 with the upgrade to triple glazed, passive house quality windows.
Our designs have large areas of glazing which can be used to harness solar gain. All our living spaces have the ability to be cross ventilated, allowing the homeowner to control the internal environment. In some cases glazing will require solar protection to avoid overheating in the summer. To resolve this, we have designed the option of trellises to act as solar shades.
Although natural ventilation design is possible with our airtight construction details and low infiltration rates, many of our customers install a ventilation system. There are several options. The most efficient systems are automated and can act as climate control for your home. Heat Recovery Ventilator (HRV) systems have a central unit that supplies fresh air from outside the house and exhausts stale air from inside the house thorugh supply and extract terminals located in each room. The system is designed by a specialist consultant and has several advantages over a natural ventilation strategy. All the air in the home is filtered and fresh with the entire volume of air changing every 30 minutes. This reduces moisture, odors, humidity, and pollutants like smoke, which helps with health and allergies, security and midges (windows can be shut and locked in summer), and protection from outside noise.
Hebhomes works with a specialist heating consultant to offer you a range of renewable technology options for heating your house. This includes air source heat pumps (ASHP), ground source heat pumps (GSHP), solar panels and photovoltaic cells, among others. You can choose the system that works best for your house and your budget.
All our homes aim to meet the challenge of the zero-carbon economy, and we are constantly looking at ways of improving our products to set an example of how we can protect our planet in the challenging times ahead. We also believe that in the pursuit of true sustainability, good design is as important as the materials we use and the techniques we employ.
It is the bulidings we love - the buildings that fit into our beautiful landscapes and built-environments - that will remain for future generations to cherish and preserve.
